proclaiming
secularism. As Columbia streaked across the universe, it played an
American favorite for all of heaven to hear, "Imagine."
"Imagine
there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky..."
Was God expected
to bless and protect this flight?
"No, not even
God could sink the Titanic," boasted the Titianic designer on its
maiden voyage.
Pride goeth
before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 16:18
What about the faithful Christians that died
on Columbia? In the World Trade Center? What about the faithful Christians that grieve the loss of
their loved ones? Why would God demand the few die for the many?
Why will you not hear?
"And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven
angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the
wrath of God." (Rev 15:1)
Astronauts
Rick Husband and Mike Anderson fervently lived for God. In a beautiful
tribute to Rick Husband, it says,
"His heart was
firmly planted on a hope that is beyond the earth's orbit. Because of
his personal faith in Jesus Christ, he had confidence that when he was
meant to die, he would find himself home in Heaven."
God has spared
them from what is to come. And the horror of it will be like nothing
the world has ever seen or will see again.
Those in
Christ, killed in the World Trade Center, killed on Columbia, killed
on the Titanic, are with Him, where the Bible says:
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall
be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be
any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
(Rev 21:4)
God's children are
never forgotten by God. Rather, Rick Husband and Mike Anderson have entered their eternal joy
and can see God face to face. It is we, who are left behind, that
still battle the principalities of this world, we who face the
tribulation on the horizon. By God's grace we still have work to do.
Lightning Bolts
NASA analyzed the photograph and camera that caught Columbia as it
streaked over California with a purple "lightning-bolt"
hitting it. This was captured on film FIVE times, though not seen by
the naked eye. The
description of the photo suggests the "lightning" reacted to the tail
of Columbia. The lightning bolts were a validated explanation by many
scientists who confirmed the possibility of the cause of the crash,
even as NASA now claims the cause was a misguided 2 lb piece of
styrofoam.

The Sovereignty of God
I know how deeply
grieved we are over the loss of our astronauts. I realize why Ilan
Ramon was becoming a national hero. I know why people apart from God
would want to believe there is no heaven or hell. It's obvious that
the secular world would want to take a drawing into space that
proclaims "science precedes all." But we just don't know what
we're doing.
I do not write
this to attack science, or Israel, or Ilan Ramon, or our government.
It's about our hearts. It has nothing to do with Ilan Ramon
personally, it's about a people that lift him up above God. That
science is glorified. Science is a wonderful thing, medical science
has made incredible contributions. But when we put
everything and anything we can above God, we are in danger. Are we so
far gone that we can't even recognize how we mock Him as a society?
If WE don't turn
around, if WE don't open our eyes to the sovereignty of God, there
will be many more tragedies just like this one as God removes His hand
of protection from our nation. The horror of what is yet to come will
be like nothing the world has ever seen or will see again.
